What It Took to Build Our First Ten Storey Tower?
Tectonic Engineers took over the Pink City Trade Centre project in Jaipur after a piling failure risked structural collapse.
The Pink City Trade Centre Story That Started in Crisis
A Site Already in Distress
In 2007, we reached a site near Government Hostel in Jaipur. The project was Pinkcity Trade Centre, a ten-storey commercial tower with three basement levels.
When we arrived, the site had already experienced serious issues. A piling failure during excavation caused the soil to shift. A nearby building stood dangerously close and faced the risk of collapse. The previous contractor was fired. The design lacked structural clarity. The situation demanded urgent attention.
MA Architects, the design consultants, recommended our name to the client. We knew the site had problems. We still chose to take it on.
Taking Responsibility Without Delay
We visited the site with our senior engineers. The piles were exposed. Some had already failed. The soil movement had left the site unstable. The building next door stood within meters of the excavation. We had to decide quickly.
We reviewed the risks, understood the scale of the damage, and committed to stabilizing the entire site. This was not a project we could rush. We had to move one step at a time with complete control.
Rebuilding the Ground Below
We started by cutting back the failed piles. We sealed them with concrete and reinforced the area using sandbags. Each section required focused attention. Excavation continued in phases. We did not allow work to proceed unless every parameter met our safety standards.
We monitored the adjoining structure daily. Any sign of movement triggered immediate adjustments on site. We coordinated closely with the architect and our engineering leads to ensure clear decisions at every stage.
Completing the basement took eight months. That timeline reflected the care and stability the site demanded. The deeper we dug, the more important it became to stay precise.
Delivering Our First Ten-Storey Tower
Once the basement reached completion, we shifted focus to the structure above. We built the ten floors with the same discipline we brought to the foundation. Every phase followed strict sequencing. The challenges in the early stages had prepared the team to execute the rest with clarity.
This project became our first ten-storey building. It did not start with celebration. It started with a collapsed foundation and a high-stakes decision. We treated every task with seriousness. We followed every process with intent. That is how we turned a failing site into a functional commercial tower.
Why Does This Project Still Matters?
Pink City Trade Centre still stands near Government Hostel. Most people walking past it will never know how close it came to failing. We do.
We remember every pile that needed reinforcement. We remember the pressure of keeping the neighboring building secure. We remember how every shift in the soil demanded a decision.
This was not just a construction project. It was a test of patience, trust, and control. It shaped how we approach every complex site today.
